How to get there

On Pacific Coast Highway between Temescal Canyon and Sunset Blvd.  Look for the turnoff to the Temescal Canyon Road and the beach is the other side of the PCH.  Also walkable from  Venice or Santa Monica.

About Will Rogers

This three mile long stretch of beach is one of the medium quieter beaches of Los Angeles, it is clean and great for swimming or surfing.  While there are a few rocks in places there are also lots of open stretches of sand.  Often compared favorably to Venice or Santa Monica this sandy stretch has the same feel, being so close, yet is quieter.

People also visit the Will Rogers Beach either at the end of a hike the Los Liones Trail, or as the starting point of the the Marvin Braude Bicycle Trail.  Map of Beach Bike Path

Beach wheelchairs available.

Swimming, sunbathing, surfing, volleyball and windsurfing all attract both locals and those from around LA to this beach.

With many permanently set up volleyball nets for people to play on you will often find people here practicing their moves.  While they may all be taken at peak times on weekends for the rest of the time you will always be able to find space to play.

With a bus stop nearby for alternative access, and parking lot space available for putting your car right next to the beach, the Will Rogers has a full set of accessibility features.

Real restrooms that are cleaned regularly are a big plus if you are staying all day at this LA beach together with your kids or family.  Going for a picnic? Then this beach is great for you as well.

Nearby Attractions

While most people visit the beach just for a day of sand, sun, surf and fun, there are actually many interesting attractions all within easy reach of the beach. So if you want to combine some activities in a day in the area, or simply want to allow some members of your group to do different things, then consider some of these nearby attractions.

Point Dume - At the end of the beach, visible as you look all the way to the left while facing the sea, Point Dume is a rocky promontory that juts out into the Pacific Ocean. The point, a long bluff, forms the northern end of the Santa Monica Bay. It is most interesting as a rock climbing location as the rocking mound forms a natural climbing wall with very moderate single pitch rock climbing routes that are perfect for the beginner or training, or simply for those simply wishing to try out natural rock climbing.
