Zuma Beach Attractions

While most people visit the beach just for a day of sand, sun, surf and fun, there are actually many interesting attractions all within easy reach of the beach. So if you want to combine some activities in a day in the area, or simply want to allow some members of your group to do different things, then consider some of these nearby attractions.

Point Dume - At the end of the beach, visible as you look all the way to the left while facing the sea, Point Dume is a rocky promontory that juts out into the Pacific Ocean. The point, a long bluff, forms the northern end of the Santa Monica Bay. It is most interesting as a rock climbing location as the rocking mound forms a natural climbing wall with very moderate single pitch rock climbing routes that are perfect for the beginner or training, or simply for those simply wishing to try out natural rock climbing.
 

Getty Villa - Right opposite the beach is the the Getty Villa, the historic museum built by the Getty family, which is now open to the public.  Located in the exclusive Pacific Palisades neighborhood it is one of two locations of the J. Paul Getty Museum. As well as having a collection of Greek, Roman, and Etruscan antiquities it also houses a UCLA masters program facility.  Entry is free but there is a $15 parking charge. Open 10 until 5 every day except Tuesday and Wednesday.
 

Malibu Creek State Park - Preserving more than 7,000 acres of the Santa Monica Mountains. Opened to the public in 1976, the park includes areas of Malibou Lake, Calabasas, and Malibu Canyon.

Malibu Country Mart - The Malibu Country Mart is a giant outdoor boutique mall located at the Civic Center of Malibu, California.  About 10 miles from the beach but a worthwhile 15 minute drive to get some great shopping and dining.

Point Mugu - Point Mugu State Park is a state park located in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area in Southern California. Part of the Western Santa Monica Mountains, the park is located at 9000 West Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu, California.

Adamson House - The Adamson House and its associated land, which was known as Vaquero Hill in the nineteenth century, is a historic house and gardens in Malibu, California that has been called the "Taj Mahal of Tile".  The historic home of Merritt Huntley Adamson, a local rancher, is set along the beautiful Malibu coastline and is home to a museum that explores the history of Malibu.
