About Hermosa
This two mile stretch of sandy beach that runs for the length of the Santa Monica Bay also runs out along the Palos Verdes Peninsula. There are lots of activities to do on the beach from water sports to just people watching. Unlike some of the other parts of the coast this is a real local's beach for LA residents.
Metered street parking available, or you can park a few blocks away on the hills and walk to the sands if the parking lots are packed as they are on weekends. Make sure to bring some change as some of the on street parking machines only take cash.
On the beach itself miles of clean sands and rock free water make this a kid's paradise and families from the area will spend whole days here.
As they have showers and restrooms it is a full day experience. The pier is of course great to walk on and when you walk back and up Pier Avenue you'll find plenty of good restaurants. Watch some of the experienced volleyball players compete in real tournaments on the beach and cheer on the side that you like!
This is a good beach to access The Strand, the accessible walkway, as well as other disabled facilities.
A good beach to go swimming or picnic with the kids you will also find many surf fishing enthusiasts like to come here out of the swimming season.
Allow time to walk along the pier for the great views at the end.
