About Marina del Rey
The Marina Beach aka Mother's Beach is not to be confused with the other Mother's Beach at Long Beach although they are both calm water and kids-friendly. This non-ocean facing beach is a small beach next to the marina where loads of yacht are docked. The quality of water varies, sometimes it's clean but sometimes it can be oily due to the boats around.
The calm water is good for kids. Lifeguards on beach, children's playground and BBQ grills make it a family-friendly place to spend a weekend. Kayaking and paddle-boarding are popular here too.
As the Marina del Rey is on the Marvin Braude Coastal Bike Trail (The Strand), it has 2 bike storage lockers nearby:
- Parking lot#5 at 4545 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey
- Parking lot#7 at 4350 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey, opposite the Ritz-Carlton
There are many restaurants nearby. The Beachside Restaurant & Bar has the unbeatable location where you can overlook the beach and water. Upscale sefood not your thing? The Cheesecake Factory is on the other end of the beach.
If you want to stay around the marina there are a few hotels and inns nearby. Marina del Rey Marriott, Hilton Garden Inn Marina del Rey, Jamaica Bay Inn and Oakwood Marina del Rey are a few to name.
