About Torrance
South of Redondo Beach is Torrance Beach, and the line between is unclear at times. But down in Torrance things are a little quieter and that makes this a great swim and surf beach has wide expanses of sand between Redondo down to the Palos Verdes peninsula and Rossler Point park.
Rat Beach is the name for the southern most section while Burnout Beach is the Centre and the northern section which borders into Redondo is the main part of the Torrance beach.
Like many of the best beaches in Los Angeles it has had a turn as the backdrop of a major TV show. In this case there was a season of 90210 which featured the beach prominently.
Surfers delight in the waves at Burnout and will often be seen there the whole summer. Organized surf camps use this beach which can make it crowded in the summer, but you are able to surf almost anywhere on the beach.
For biking enthusiasts there is a seasonal branch of Perry's Cafe at Redondo where you can rent bikes and book tours.
Parking fees: Winter $2.00 to $6.00; Summer $3.00 to $7.00
Food: Restaurants nearby including a typical array of beach foods. It is a short walk away from the beach but try the L&L Hawaiian BBQ for a treat! Located 1821 S. Catalina Ave. it is official Redondo but in practice just two blocks from Miramar Park at the center of Burnout Beach.
Lifeguard stations are located every 100 yards down the beach and are open all day.
